In 1985, siblings from British Columbia - Don, Ian and Kathy Scott - made their way down the west coast to San Diego where they founded GSI Outdoors. The GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Base Camper is an ingenious, indestructible, integrated, 18/8 stainless steel cookset that is rugged, nesting campfire-ready, and made of pure 304/18-8 stainless steel. The large set includes a 169 fl oz. (5 liter) pot, and the medium set includes a 67 fl oz. (2 liter) pot. Both include a 3.2 qt (3 liter) pot with stamped-in graduations, stay-cool, flip-up pot handles, two strainer lids, a tri-clad (stainless, aluminum, stainless) even-heating fry pan, and a fitted storage sack, all of which are Teflon-free.
The 3-piece heavy-duty stainless steel cookware set is designed to cook for four while car camping. The set includes large (5 liter) and medium (2 liter) pots, a 3-liter pot, flip-up pot handles, two strainer lids, a fry pan, and a convenient fitted storage sack. The stainless steel material provides an incredibly even, controlled heat and is safe to use over coals or on a stove. Compared to other materials such as aluminum or titanium, stainless steel makes this camp set more durable but lighter on the wallet.
The versatile, compact nesting design allows for easy reconfiguration and packing, making it a great choice for car camping and backpacking. The heavy-duty, clad stainless steel frypan with a folding, locking handle provides incredibly even and controlled heat. The large set weighs 3.7 lbs and measures 9 in x 9 in x 5.9 inches, while the medium set weighs 2.8 lbs and measures 8.4 in x 8.4 in x 5.7 inches.
